ACTIVITIES SOUTH FLORIDA COMPANY January 26, 2013 -
MEETING/LUNCHEON The South Florida Company of the Jamestowne Society held its regular meeting on January 26th,
at Paddy Mac’s Irish Bar & Grill, in Palm Beach Gardens, with 28 members,
friends of Jamestowne & guest attending. Governor Jethro
Hurt introduced our speaker for the day, James M. Gabler, who gave an
interesting presentation on his book, “PASSIONS, the Wines and Travels of
Thomas Jefferson”. Mr. Gabler’s presentation was

SOUTH FLORIDA COMPANY OCTOBER 29, 2011 - MEETING/LUNCHEON 24 were in attendance for the October 29th
meeting at Paddy Mac’s Irish Restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens. Jane Congdon presented the program “Some Things You May Not
Know About Pocahontas”. Jane is a 15+
generation Virginia and the 9th great-granddaughter of Pocahontas
and John Rolfe, which makes her the 10th great-granddaughter of
Chief Powhatan. She has been involved
with genealogy for about 25 years and is a member of many lineage
societies. She is a member of the
National Genealogical Society of Florida and Virginia State Genealogical
Society as well as several genealogical societies in other states. As a member of the National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution, she is a Volunteer Genealogist and
certified Field School instructor. In
Florida, she works with a team presenting genealogy-application procedures
and has worked with volunteers worldwide digitalizing 1.1 million member
applications and supplement applications making this lineage information
available free to the public by accessing the DAR website. Jane has just returned from Jamestowne and discussed the current dig at the old Jamestowne church.
She displayed many items she had purchased which are on sale at the Jamestowne Store or online. She spoke about Preservation Virginia
(formerly known as APVA). Genealogist Lockwood Rianhard
brought several resource books to the meeting for the benefit of the
members. He also discussed topics from
the Williamsburg meeting, specifically tax exempt ramifications for small Jamestowne Companies. (Pictured left to right:

APRIL 30, 2011 - MEETING/LUNCHEON Great April 30th
Meeting - 25 members, prospective
members and guests. Varied menu at Paddy Mac's Irish
Restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens. Program: Liz Esmann showed the DVD, "1607: A Nation
Takes Root." Company Genealogist Lockwood Rianhard distributed copies of lineage of Queen Elizabeth
II, a descendant of Captain John Smith and Mary Warner; the Warner line
being the Royal connection. He described conditions in
Virginia and Massachusetts before 1684 when there was no freedom of religion
until King Charles signed the Edit of Toleration. See the
